Hello well its Friday again and I am so glad that I survived the week. Here is an image made using - paint  a digital computer programme with paint fill which is great fun to use.This package is also in most schools now and it is amazing to see how pupils can use their creativity if allowed.

How aware I am now of making lessons interesting. My preferable style of learning is visual. That is why I cannot do mental maths unless it is written down!!!
Over the last few months of teaching experience I have tried to ensure the lessons I teach are as visual as possible however that is not every pupils preferable style of learning.
The Curriculum for Excellence talks about the importance of each pupil learning - skills which will carry their learning across all the areas of the Curriculum. For example - If a pupil loves football the teacher must encourage that interest in the hope that the pupil will also maybe learn about geography as it relates to football. If the pupil is motivated they will be in a peak state to learn and will be happier following subjects that they enjoy, Research and thinking skills will be improved along the way too - which are transferable across all subjects.
Most teacher want to inspire and move to a higher ground. I remember our wonderful English teacher at Belmont who inspired me with her great selection of short stories and interesting novels. My English marks were high for that year. Then we got another teacher and my marks plummeted as I was sooo bored with the teacher. I would go and draw on my English jotter or maybe fall asleep - those were the days - but what a waste of time.
There is so much good practice I have seen and am trying to put that into place while I have the opportunity with my P1 class.
We have made the play dough and built castles out of junk and printed paper to look like castle walls. We use the huge whiteboard to draw pictures to do with adding and sorting into sets, It is great fun.
