Yesterday,we went to town to get  the boys some clothes. It was interesting to see the written word again in advertising. The sentence on the paper bag full of new clothes; said "this bag is greener than you think!" the words explained that the company recycle all of their cardboard to make paper bags, in which to put their clothing in! I was impressed especially because this company had started to use the paper bags many years ago which is before other shops followed.  Any advertising is good!
The whole idea of recycling is so important nowadays and companies such as Lush and the Body Shop have used this as a selling point - along with being against animal testing and sourcing responsibly.
Any way here is a note to myself in the future. Recycle paper to make new paper! I have made paper from newspaper it is easy and you can add all sorts of bits to make it look great. You can make smooth or rough paper and add color to it as well.  All you need is a lot of scrap paper, a blender, and a screen to dry the paper pulp out on.  I think you can use some wallpaper paste to make it stronger.  You will also need some patience.

You could finish this activity off by making personal booklets - with writing inside using made quill pens and then create some book covers by doing some marbling. This would be a good cross curricular activity as  art, language, science and maths could all be incorporated into making a book. The books could be sold and this would bring in enterprise activities.  Therefore most of the areas in the curriculum are covered and it would be an activity which would be fun to do!

You can even imprint an image onto the paper pulp before it dries and use moulds of cups and bowls to make useful objects d'art. So that looks like part of my summer project. Papermaking!
