Hello
This image is one of my favorite creatures because these creatures transform into beautiful butterflies. Nature is amazing, I was reminded of this fact again this week when I discovered a cross between a cauliflower and broccoli in a shop which seemed to say "Buy me"!  It looked like an alien. So I bought one to show the pupils I am working with and we then cooked this vegetable during Home Economics. They were fascinated and enjoyed dissecting it!
I remembered one of the most influential teachers I ever had the privilege of being a student of was called Mr Bell or Frankie as he was known. He would bring in parts of creatures for us to examine. We were too fascinated to feel sick ! We knew what sheep's lungs looked like and he used to blow them up by mouth. Then he would stretch out a rabbits intestine across the table to show us how it all folded up inside the creature. Nowadays that approach would not be accepted at all and so we make do with images from the computer. Nothing beats the hands on approach though as it awakens the different types of senses thus improving the pupil's chance of being interested.
This image above has an element of reality in it as it shows one of the caterpillars has died!
On a brighter note I am so pleased to see how our son will engage himself in making things and creating items out of old pieces of wood..He also created a game called Double Drip which is based on the air hockey game and is portable and playable.
